CTE Early Orientation

Meets Part of Requirement for Clearing Designated Subjects CTE Credential

This course is a great course for any new CTE teacher. The course covers the introductory skills, knowledge, and attitudes required for beginning CTE teaching success. This course also meets the early orientation requirement to clear your Designated Subjects CTE Credential through the Orange County Office of Education. If your preliminary credential is from a program sponsor other than OCOE, this course may meet the early orientation requirement. Contact us at the email/phone below for more information. Instruction will be a combination of 18 hours class time and 12 hours online work.

Learning modules include:

  • Creating a Positive Learning Environment
  • Designing Engaging Instruction for all Learners

This 12-hour course is designed to help CTE teachers develop their teaching “survival kit”, design effective instruction, and reflect on their own teaching practice. Teachers will walk away with practical tools to help them design, deliver and assess authentic lessons for CTE students.

Subject modules will include Assessments, Tech in the Classroom, Teacher Vocab, School Protocols, Syllabus, Course Outline, Lesson Planning, etc.

Sacramento FBI Teen Academy

The Teen/Youth Academy allows high school students an opportunity to get a comprehensive look into today’s FBI during a six-to-eight-hour block of instruction and demonstrations at the field office. Students are provided with several presentations on topics, including terrorism, cyber, public corruption, polygraph exams, evidence response, SWAT, and the day-to-day operations of a typical FBI office.

The Spring 2017 Sacramento FBI Teen Academy will be held Friday, April 7, 2017. The application period for the Sacramento Teen Academy is currently open; all applications must be received no later than 4 p.m.on February 23, 2017. Any high school junior attending enrolled in the following counties may apply: Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Fresno, Glenn, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Lassen, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Modoc, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Solano, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Tulare, Tuolumne, Trinity, Yuba, and Yolo. SMUD "I Can Afford College" Workshop

SMUD will be hosting a workshop to help students (and parents) find out what financial and planning resources are available to help students go to college. This session will provide information on financial aid, including the SMUD Powering Futures Scholarship, and will highlight opportunities to transfer from a community college to a California State University (CSU) campus. A panel discussion will include speakers from the “I Can Afford College Campaign” and local financial aid experts to assist students in determining what type of aid they are eligible for, how much they may qualify for and how to apply.
